Kamalakkannan is a Lecturer at the Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering Department of the University of Peradeniya. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Peradeniya in 2017 and thereafter he obtained his Master of Philosophy (Mphil) degree in Sustainable Manufacturing from University of Peradeniya in 2021. His MPhil thesis title was “Design and Development of a Decision Support System for Eco-design Based on Life Cycle Management”. Also, he was awarded a scholarship by the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-India) to pursue research in the Department of Engineering Design. Further, as an engineer and researcher in the area of sustainable manufacturing and industrial engineering, he has been involved in many research and development projects among different manufacturing industries and organizations nationally and internationally. His research interests include Sustainable Development, Sustainable Manufacturing, Life Cycle Assessment and Management, Supply chain management, Eco-Design, Product Design & Development, and Additive Manufacturing.
