Achala Pallegedara joined the faculty of Engineering as a Senior Lecturer in 2017. He was a post-doctoral fellow of European commission and worked at the Czech Technical University of Prague for about two years, leading projects on developing hand-held temperature emulators for small specimen concrete samples and also carried out numerical simulations on large scale concrete structures subjected to high irradiation in high performance computers. He also has been teaching courses on robotics, mechatronics , AI, Numerical computing, machine learning and computer programming for undergraduate and post-graduate courses since 2013. Before he joined the University of Peradeniya, he was worked as a Dean/ Head school of Engineering, Program Director of Post-graduate Program in Computer Networks and Program Director for MIS and Software Engineering Degree Programs at School of Computing and also Program Coordinator and teaching panel for Plymouth and Dublin Universities UK programs, at NSBM Green University Sri Lanka. Before he pursued his PhD in Japan, he also worked as software engineer, consultant and senior technical lead roles in leading computer software industries in Sri Lanka, India and USA for 6 years. Furthermore, he has been serving as the advisor for the high-altitude balloon project Serendib 1.0/2.0 carried out by SEDS Sri Lanka and advisor and mentor of the Rover development project Thaprobane 1.0/ 2.0 (https://sedssl.lk/articles). He has been actively involving in the research activities in DoCP and DMIE of areas of applications in Robotics, IoT, Mechatronics, Data Science and AI.
