The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) has announced the appointment of Professor Ranjith Dissanayake, Senior Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at our university as its new President, effective October 2023.
The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL), stands as an apex national body, ensuring internationally recognized and locally relevant standards in professional engineering practice and education. It has been actively supporting national development and diligently serving its members and the society at large. The IESL envisions itself as one of the leading professional institutions in engineering and technology globally.
Notably, by this new appointment, Prof. Dissanayake brings a huge reputation to our university and he currently serves as the Chairman of the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka (GBCSL), and he is a Vice President of the Chamber of Construction Industry (CCI).
Prof. Dissanayake’s commitment to advancing the engineering field is reflected in his extensive publication record, with over 150 papers published in reputed journals. Moreover, he has chaired more than fifteen international conferences, further enhancing his reputation as a leading figure in the field. His dedication to public service is also evident in his past roles as the Secretary to the State Ministry of Rural Roads and the State Ministry of Urban Development.
In light of his extensive experience, remarkable achievements, and unwavering dedication to the field of engineering, we believe that Prof. Ranjith Dissanayake’s leadership will bring new energy and vision to the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL).
