Welcome to the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Peradeniya.

The Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya founded in 1950 is the first engineering faculty in Sri Lanka. First housed in Colombo it was shifted to the present location at Peradeniya in 1964. As one of the eight Faculties of the University of Peradeniya, the most prestigious university in Sri Lanka, the Faculty of Engineering is located in an idyllic setting on the banks of the Mahaweli River and at the foothills of the Hantana mountain range. With nine Departments of studies, over 110 PhDs as permanent academic staff and around 2200 undergraduate and postgraduate students, the Faculty offers Bachelor of the Science of Engineering degree in 6 specializations; Chemical & Process Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. In addition, the Faculty offers many post-graduate courses and research degrees in various engineering and management disciplines leading to, Postgraduate Diplomas, Master of Engineering, Master of Science, Master of Philosophy, and Doctor of Philosophy.

Having diverse other Faculties, Postgraduate Institutes and several Centres and Units offering numerous services at close proximity and on campus residential facilities provided, the students at Peradeniya have a unique opportunity for interactions with students in diverse academic disciplines, communities and social backgrounds. The advanced sports and recreational facilities together with a range of life-style options available within the Campus offer the students a memorable learning experience.
