The spaghetti bridge competition has, and will always be one of the most exciting and thrilling events marked in the event calendar.
Thanks to IABMAS who organized this competition, in collaboration with IESL YMS and CES of the University of Peradeniya, we were able to experience not just a competition, but various ways of bridge constructions as well. The competition was held at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, with the presence of teams from six different universities island wide.
The awarding ceremony of the competition was held on the 18th December at the ICSBE Kandy Conference 2022. Winners were awarded with exclusive prizes and tokens of appreciation were presented to the Judge Panel. With the presence of members of IABMAS, representatives from IESL, CES of University of Peradeniya and the winning team members, the awarding ceremony appeared to be a grand function.

theories and practices have been used to create every construction and design created today.
A field trip to Anuradhapura was successfully accomplished to
study these amazing technologies on 3rd December 2022 by the Civil Engineering Society, Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya.
A session on “Role of Engineers in Application of Water Safety Plans”, organized by the Civil Engineering Society (CES) of the University of Peradeniya was successfully conducted at the Joint Research and Demonstration Center (JRDC) for water technology on the 8th of June at 5.00 pm with the participation of members of the CES. This was the maiden talk for the annual talk series 2022/23, organized by the CES. Further, it was indeed a great pleasure to conduct a session physically after a long stretch of virtual sessions. Eng. Dr. S.K. Weragoda , director of the Joint Research and Demonstration Center for water technology was invited as the resource person for the session and he shared his knowledge and experience with the participants. The CES extends its gratitude to Eng. Dr. S.K. Weragoda for the very informative presentation on “Role of Engineers in Application of Water Safety Plans”.
A session on "How to get the best out of Industrial training", organized by the Civil Engineering Society (CES) in collaboration with the Industrial Training and Career Guidance Unit (ITCGU) was successfully conducted online on 21st May at 3.00 pm with the participation of students and members of the staff. The target audience for this session was the E18 civil engineering students who are on the verge of their first training experience. As the invited resource person of the session, Eng. Nandana Abeysuriya, Managing Director of NCD Consultants (Pvt) Ltd shared his knowledge and extensive experience with the students. The Department wishes to thank Eng. Abeysuriya for the very informative presentation and advice which is very useful for the students as they begin the first-segment of Industrial Training this week.
