Course Aim: To provide a basic understanding about music and its history.

Intended Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of the course, the students should be able to:

➢    describe the specified important developments in the history of music;

➢    describe basic concepts related to music.

Course Content:

➢    Classical Indian and Western systems.

➢    Important musicians including great composers of both systems and their work.

➢    Musical instruments of Western and Indian systems.

➢    Trends in Sri Lankan music.

➢    Practical in instrumental or vocal music
