Health monitoring and damage assessment of structures . is important for the safety of users and the structure. Fatigue damage is one of the causes of failure of aged structures and occasionally cause problems in new structures as well. There have been many instances of collapsing of bridges, towers and buildings due to fatigue.

Department of Civil Engineering has a proud history on fatigue studies. Having started a few decades back, these studies are continuing, contributing much needed knowledge to the country and the world.

In this research seminar, the contributions made by the Department of Civil Engineering for fatigue damage assessment of structures, current studies, collaborations, . research grants and future work will be discussed.
