    Dr. U. I. Diassanayake is the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya since 2021 to-date. He obtained his BSc.Eng (Hons) in Civil Engineering from University of Peradeniya in 1990 and Ph.D. from the University of Sheffield in 1996. He works as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Peradeniya since 1996. He worked as a Senior Structural Design Engineer at U&D Engineering Consultants during 3 sabbatical leave periods from 2006 to 2008, 20012 to 2014 and 2017 to 2019. He is a Chartered Engineer qualified to design/review building structures with more than 20 floors in Sri Lanka as per the Directory of Structural Engineers published by the IESL. He is a member of IESL accreditation review panel to few Sri Lankan Universities and a regular reviewer of Sri Lanka Science Foundation. His research areas include Steel and Steel-Composite Structures and Cost-effective structural systems.
