IABMAS Spaghetti Bridge Competition


IABMAS Spaghetti Bridge Competition organized by The International Association for Bridge Maintenance and Safety - Sri Lanka Group in collaboration with the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka - Young Members Section (YMS) and Civil Engineering Society, University of Peradeniya.
7 universities ,11 teams , competing to bring glory to their university. Join with us to witness the most competitive competition of the year The spaghetti bridge competition has, and will always be one of the most exciting and thrilling events marked in the event calendar.
Thanks to IABMAS who organized this competition, in collaboration with IESL YMS and CES of the University of Peradeniya, we were able to experience not just a competition, but various ways of bridge constructions as well. The competition was held at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, with the presence of teams from six different universities island wide.
The awarding ceremony of the competition was held on the 18th December at the ICSBE Kandy Conference 2022. Winners were awarded with exclusive prizes and tokens of appreciation were presented to the Judge Panel. With the presence of members of IABMAS, representatives from IESL, CES of University of Peradeniya and the winning team members, the awarding ceremony appeared to be a grand function.


Our Programmes

For Undergraduates

Undergraduate programme civil engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering comprising three main divisions, viz., Material and Structural Engineering, Hydraulics and Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical and Transportation Engineering offers a broad spectrum of courses in the Civil Engineering Specialization as well as in the General Programme and in the other Specializations in the Faculty of Engineering.

For Postgraduates

Postgraduate programme civil engineering

The department offers postgraduate programmes in five areas of specialization. These include taught programmes, viz., PGDip (by coursework), MEng, MScEng and MSc as well as research leading to PGDip (by research), MPhil and PhD.



 

Research Areas

Research Area civil engineering

The academic staff of the department together with their undergraduate and postgraduate students are involved in a diverse range of research covering a broad spectrum of topics. Such research is mostly designed to address requirements of the civil engineering practice and the industry.
