A paper titled "Comparative Study of the Wind Codes: An Application to Forty-Six Storied Wall-Frame Structure"
by Eng B Kiriparan, Eng (Dr) J A S C Jayasinghe, and Eng (Dr) U I Dissanayake received the IESL AWARD - 2022 for Best Paper by a Corporate Member - in the Journal "Engineer" during the session 2021/22.
It was awarded in the Inauguration Ceremony of the 116th Annual Sessions held on 14-10-2022.
The Department of Civil Engineering comprising three main divisions, viz., Material and Structural Engineering, Hydraulics and Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical and Transportation Engineering offers a broad spectrum of courses in the Civil Engineering Specialization as well as in the General Programme and in the other Specializations in the Faculty of Engineering.
The department offers postgraduate programmes in five areas of specialization. These include taught programmes, viz., PGDip
(by coursework), MEng, MScEng and MSc as well as research leading to PGDip (by research), MPhil and PhD.
The academic staff of the department together with their undergraduate and postgraduate students are involved in a diverse range of research covering a broad spectrum of topics.
Such research is mostly designed to address requirements of the civil engineering practice and the industry.
