An invited talk on ‘An Introduction to Mental Health and Counseling Students’ was delivered by Dr Sayuri Perera, Consultant Psychiatrist and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya for the academic staff members of the Department of Civil Engineering on 11th July 2022.
The Department of Civil Engineering comprising three main divisions, viz., Material and Structural Engineering, Hydraulics and Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical and Transportation Engineering offers a broad spectrum of courses in the Civil Engineering Specialization as well as in the General Programme and in the other Specializations in the Faculty of Engineering.
The department offers postgraduate programmes in five areas of specialization. These include taught programmes, viz., PGDip
(by coursework), MEng, MScEng and MSc as well as research leading to PGDip (by research), MPhil and PhD.
The academic staff of the department together with their undergraduate and postgraduate students are involved in a diverse range of research covering a broad spectrum of topics.
Such research is mostly designed to address requirements of the civil engineering practice and the industry.
