A session on "How to get the best out of Industrial training", organized by the Civil Engineering Society (CES) in collaboration with the Industrial Training and Career Guidance Unit (ITCGU) was successfully conducted online on 21st May at 3.00 pm with the participation of students and members of the staff. The target audience for this session was the E18 civil engineering students who are on the verge of their first training experience. As the invited resource person of the session, Eng. Nandana Abeysuriya, Managing Director of NCD Consultants (Pvt) Ltd shared his knowledge and extensive experience with the students. The Department wishes to thank Eng. Abeysuriya for the very informative presentation and advice which is very useful for the students as they begin the first-segment of Industrial Training this week.
The Department of Civil Engineering comprising three main divisions, viz., Material and Structural Engineering, Hydraulics and Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical and Transportation Engineering offers a broad spectrum of courses in the Civil Engineering Specialization as well as in the General Programme and in the other Specializations in the Faculty of Engineering.
The department offers postgraduate programmes in five areas of specialization. These include taught programmes, viz., PGDip
(by coursework), MEng, MScEng and MSc as well as research leading to PGDip (by research), MPhil and PhD.
The academic staff of the department together with their undergraduate and postgraduate students are involved in a diverse range of research covering a broad spectrum of topics.
Such research is mostly designed to address requirements of the civil engineering practice and the industry.
