The Staff Sports Competition 2023 organized by the Physical Education Division was successfully held from 1st of November to the mid of December 2023. The Certificates Awarding Ceremony of the Faculty of Engineering was held on 21st December 2023 at the E.O.E. Pereira Theatre.
There were twenty six teams that represented all the Faculties and Units; Eight Events were mainly held – Softball Cricket (Men), Badminton (Men & Women), Volleyball (Men), Netball (Women), Carrom (Men & Women), Track Events – Relay (Men & Women), Walking (Men & Women), Table tennis (Men & Women),and under the Track events there were Relays- 4 x 50m/4 x 100m/4 x 200m/4 x 400m and individual running events-50m/100m/200m and 800m.
The events were categorized as Men, Women and Mixed, which was conducted under two age groups categorized as; Over 40 years and Under 40 years. The Faculty of Engineering received 95 certificates for Champions in Badminton, Chess, and Athletic events, and then Second Runners up for Table Tennis, Volleyball, and First Runners up for the events of Carrom, Cricket and Chess. Then finally awarded with three champion trophies for Badminton, Chess, and Athletic events.
Dr. U. I. Dissnayake the Dean Engineer, Faculty of Engineering and the Heads of the Eight Departments in the Faculty, Ms. R.D.S.N. Rajapaksha, Assistant Registrar, Mr. B.M.I.A.K Basnayake, Senior Assistant Bursar and the Coordinator of this event Dr. K.R.R.I Bandara were among the invited guests.
