The mission of NEA is to spotlight extraordinary individuals who shape the future of education in Sri Lanka by driving innovation, research, and impactful contributions. The awards are categorized into three levels—Gold, Silver, and Bronze—to honor excellence in various academic fields, emphasizing achievements in Academic Contributions, Research, Scholarship, and Creative Work, and Contributions to Institute, National, or International Development.
