University of Peradeniya Partners in Symposium on Climate Action 2025

The University of Peradeniya proudly serves as an Academic Partner for the Symposium on Climate Action 2025, to be held on 30th September to 1st of October 2025 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, under the theme “Food, Water, and Climate Security through Integrated Water Management: Lessons Learned.”

The partnership reflects the University’s strong commitment to advancing climate resilience, sustainable water management, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Department of Civil Engineering have made significant academic contributions toward the symposium, particularly through the enhancement of research publications and project documentation under the Climate Resilient Integrated Water Management Project (CRIWMP).

From the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Lilantha Samaranayake (Dean, Faculty of Engineering), Prof. Kushan Wijesundara (Head, Department of Civil Engineering), Dr. Prabha Weerakoon, Dr. Gouri De Silva, Dr. Panduka Neluwala, and Dr. Chandima Gunawardana joined the even. Department’s collective expertise in hydrology, climate adaptation, water resources management, and environmental engineering has supported the development of technical content and knowledge dissemination activities within CRIWMP.

This collaboration strengthens the University’s role in shaping national and regional dialogue on climate action, bridging research.
