
Visit of Prof. Manabu Fujii to the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Peradeniya
Prof. Manabu Fujii from the Institute of Science, Tokyo, visited the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Peradeniya on 15th and 16th December 2025. The visit marked an important academic engagement, strengthening ties between the two institutions and fostering meaningful dialogue on education and research in civil and environmental engineering.
During his visit, Prof. Fujii met with the Head of the Department and academic staff, and toured the Environmental Engineering laboratories. Discussions with faculty members focused on ongoing research activities, emerging challenges in environmental engineering, and opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. These interactions enabled the identification of common research interests and potential avenues for joint initiatives. A significant component of the visit was Prof. Fujii’s engagement with undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as recent graduates and instructors. He spent considerable time sharing insights on future career pathways, international research opportunities, postgraduate studies, and professional development. His guidance was particularly valuable to students aspiring to pursue academic and research careers.
The visit also included discussions on possible future collaborations in both research and teaching, including joint projects, student exchanges, and academic cooperation.
