Course Aim: To impart knowledge on planning, implementation, and operational aspects of building services engineering.

Intended Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of the course, the students should be able to;

➢      discuss the civil engineering implications in providing building services.

➢      appreciate the safety and security aspects of the buildings during operations.

➢      demonstrate options available in providing different building services.

Course Content:

➢      Introduction: Introduction to building services engineering and the role of construction engineer on planning, implementation, and operational aspects of building services.

➢      HVAC Systems and thermal comfort, Lighting, Acoustics

➢      Plumbing: Water, wastewater, stormwater drainage, waterproofing, gas.

➢      Solid waste management

➢      Fire and safety, lightning protection, security surveillance systems

➢      Electromechanical systems: Wiring systems, elevators, escalators, fire systems, building energy management.

➢      Introduction to Building Management Systems (BMS)

➢      Preventive and corrective maintenance operations
