Postgraduate Taught Programme
Our taught postgraduate programmes are designed to address emerging industry requirements and support capacity building in cutting-edge engineering technologies. The programmes provide opportunities for professionals and graduates to upgrade their knowledge and skills in line with current international trends, sustainability goals, and rapidly evolving technological advancements. With a strong emphasis on industry relevance, innovation, and modern engineering practice, the Department currently offers postgraduate programmes in Building Services Engineering, Energy for Circular Economy, and Net-Zero Energy Technology.
PG Programme in Building Services Eng.
This programme focuses on introducing the concepts and methods of reducing the environmental burden of activities related to the interior built environment. The students will have an opportunity to expose themselves to latest knowledge and practice guidelines etc of building service engineering design, refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning technologies, electrical, electronic control engineering technology in designing safe and sustainable buildings with efficient building utility systems.
PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
- Capacity building in the area of Building Services Engineering.
- Establishing an academic and research culture in the area of Building Services Engineering in Sri Lanka.
- Awareness building among the stakeholders on the need for incorporating concepts of sustainability and efficient building utility concepts in the practice of building planning and construction.
- Training engineering professionals to carry out activities related to the interior built environments efficiently and effectively.
MSc in Energy for Circular Economy
This programme was developed under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education project, EUSL Energy. The programme is offered in collaboration with the Open University of Sri Lanka, University of Moratuwa and University of Ruhuna. The programme starts with a common first year (semesters 1 & 2) and then specializations in the 3rd semester. There are four specialization tracks
-
- Energy for Industry (offered by The Open University of Sri Lanka)
- Renewable Energy Systems (offered by University of Moratuwa)
- Power Generation and Supply (offered by University of Peradeniya)
- Energy Technology and Management (offered by University of Ruhuna)
The students who opt to follow Power Generation and Supply track are enrolled as postgraduate students of University of Peradeniya and thus offered the MSc degree from the University of Peradeniya.
