As part of the grand Jubilee celebrations marking decades of academic excellence at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, the Department of Mechanical Engineering captivated audiences at the recent EngEx exhibition. The department’s sprawling pavilion served as a powerful testament to its legacy of innovation, offering visitors a comprehensive, interactive journey through the diverse facets of modern engineering.
To highlight the immense breadth of research and student ingenuity, the pavilion was strategically organized into several immersive thematic zones. Visitors were drawn to the dynamic Aerospace and Automobile zones, which showcased the department’s forward-thinking approach to next-generation mobility and flight. In the realm of sustainability and infrastructure, the Power and Energy and Renewable Engineering sectors highlighted the department’s dedication to eco-friendly innovations and the transition to cleaner power grids.
The exhibition also paid homage to both foundational mechanics and the bleeding edge of technology. The Steam Engineering and Vibration zones provided deep dives into classical and advanced mechanical analysis, while the highly anticipated Cyber-Physical Systems zone demonstrated the seamless, futuristic integration of computational algorithms with physical robotics and automation.
