Our Services
The English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) of the Faculty of Engineering is committed to equipping undergraduate students with the language skills necessary for academic and professional success. The unit offers a range of services designed to develop students’ proficiency in English, with particular emphasis on its use in academic and engineering contexts.
Key areas of focus include:
- Academic Language Development: Instruction in reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills tailored to meet the demands of university-level coursework.
- Academic Vocabulary Enhancement: Targeted activities and materials to build a strong foundation in the vocabulary commonly used in academic and technical texts.
- Engineering-related Language Skills: Integration of subject-specific terminology and concepts to help students articulate engineering ideas clearly and accurately.
- Professional Communication: Training in formal writing, presentations, interviews, and workplace communication to prepare students for their future careers.
- Oral Communication and Confidence Building: Interactive sessions and speaking activities designed to increase students’ fluency, accuracy, and confidence in spoken English.
Through these services, the ELTU plays a critical role in supporting students’ transition from school to university and in preparing them for the linguistic demands of the engineering profession.
