Invention Competition for Housing and Construction 2025 Awarding Ceremony at EngEX2025

The awarding ceremony of the Invention Competition for Housing and Construction – Central
Province was held on 26th September 2025 at the E.O.E. Pereira Theatre, Faculty of Engineering,
University of Peradeniya. The Chief Guest of the event was Prof. Sarath Abeykoon, Hon. Governor of
the Central Province. The ceremony was also graced by Prof. Ranjith Pallegama, Acting Vice-
Chancellor; Prof. Lilantha Samaranayake, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Kushan
Wijesundara, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering; Mr. G.H.M.A. Premasinghe, Chief
Secretary of the Central Provincial Council; Mrs. Dileepa Rupani Piyadasa, Secretary of the Ministry
of Road Development, Transport, Power and Energy, Housing and Construction; and Mr. Kanishka
Wadugoda, Commissioner of the Central Provincial Housing Department.
A total of seven innovations six in the school category and one in the open category, received
awards, while 14 merit awards and 41 certificates of participation were also presented. The event
was jointly organized by the Provincial Housing Department of the Central Province and the
Department of Civil Engineering, University of Peradeniya.
