
Department of Civil Engineering Participates in the Regional Climate Change Conference (RCCC 2025)
The Department of Civil Engineering, University of Peradeniya, was pleased to serve as an Academic Partner of the Regional Climate Change Conference (RCCC 2025), held from October 13–15, 2025, at the Taj Samudra, Colombo. The conference was organized by The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM) under the theme “The Intersection of Climate Science, Adaptation, and Climate Financing: Focus on the Global South and Inclusivity.” The conference was convened by Prof. Erika Coppola of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy, and Prof. Roshanka (Rosh) Ranasinghe of IHE Delft and Deltares, The Netherlands. From the Department, Prof. S. B. Weerakoon, Dr. N. G. P. B. Neluwala, Dr. Gouri De Silva, and Dr. Chandima Gunawardane participated in the event.
Dr. Panduka Neluwala contributed as a plenary speaker, while staff members also served as evaluators and presenters. The conference featured nine presentations by the Department’s undergraduate and postgraduate students, showcasing their research on climate change, hydrology, and water resources. Dr. Gouri De Silva received the Best Session Presentation Award in the category “Modeling, Monitoring, and Adapting Water Systems in a Changing Climate,” and Mr. D. K. A. I. Ravindu was recognized as the Best Student Presenter in the virtual session. The Department congratulates all participants for their achievements and looks forward to continuing its support for this valuable initiative promoting collaboration in climate change research and water resource management.
