Engineering Mathematics Society Brings “Logic Meets Wonder” to EngEx 2025
The Engineering Mathematics Society delivered a set of standout experiences at EngEx 2025, transforming mathematics into something visitors could see, feel, and play with. From mind-bending visual geometry to immersive teamwork challenges, our stall became a hub for curiosity, laughter, and sharp thinking.

The Illusion Room: Where Geometry Tricks the Eye
One of the crowd favourites was the Illusion Room—a space where logic met wonder and visitors were encouraged to second-guess their own senses. Built around the idea of ordered chaos, the exhibit used carefully calculated angles and precise geometric alignment to turn flat surfaces into mind-bending depths.
More than an academic demonstration, the Illusion Room humanized mathematical complexity by making abstract ideas tangible and fun. It reminded everyone of a powerful truth: our eyes can be fooled, but the underlying geometry remains constant.

Escape Room Challenge: Mystery, Teamwork, and Problem-Solving
Adding to the excitement, the Society introduced an engaging Escape Room Challenge that blended logic, teamwork, and problem-solving in a fully immersive setting. Teams of three to four participants entered at a time, encouraging collaboration and clear communication throughout the challenge.
Designed as a tunnel-style pathway, participants advanced through a sequence of puzzles and clues leading to a final exit. The exit door was secured with a padlock, and cracking the final code became the ultimate goal.
To deepen the experience, the tunnel was transformed with an Egyptian theme, featuring paintings, wall art, handcrafted decorations, themed lighting, and even a life-sized mummy figure—creating an atmosphere of mystery and adventure. It quickly became one of the most interactive highlights of the exhibition.

The MatHrix: A Fast-Paced IQ Quiz for Quick Thinkers
For visitors who wanted a mental sprint, The MatHrix delivered a fast-paced IQ quiz filled with logic challenges. Stepping away from routine formulas, this activity focused on pure reasoning and mental sharpness—pushing participants to think quickly under pressure.
Whether competing for a top score or simply testing personal limits, it was a lively reminder that a sharp, logical mind is one of an engineer’s best tools.

EngEx 2025 proved once again that mathematics is not just about symbols on a page—it is about ideas we can experience. Through creativity, interaction, and teamwork, the Engineering Mathematics Society showcased how logic can be both powerful and fun.
