Dr. Charitha Gamlath

Honorary Visiting Lecturer

Biography

My research focuses on evaluating the risks posed by food-borne heavy metals and aflatoxins, and on developing technological solutions and strategies to reduce the health burden of food-borne illnesses and improve human nutrition. I am currently a Research Fellow in Food Science and Human Nutrition at Michigan State University in the United States. Before joining Michigan State University, I worked as a Research and Teaching Associate at the University of Melbourne, and as a faculty member at University of Peradeniya. I enjoy applying my quantitative and laboratory expertise to assess food safety and nutritional status, and to develop nutritionally enriched food products.
