LABORATORY PRACTICAL’S FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAINING INSTITUTE OF IRRIGATION AND WATER MANAGEMENT, KOTHMALE

Program Overview

This programme conducted for diploma trainees following the Higher National Diploma in Irrigation Technology (NVQ Level 5) at the International Training Institute of Irrigation and Water Management (ITIWM), Kothmale. The laboratory practical sessions were organized in accordance with the syllabus requirements, providing trainees with essential hands-on experience in key engineering disciplines through structured laboratory work conducted by academic experts.

Subject – Construction Materials and Quality Control

  • Testing of cement for consistency, initial setting time, and final setting time
  • Workability of fresh concrete (slump test)
  • Test for hardened concrete – preparation of test cubes and destructive testing
  • Test for hardened concrete – nondestructive testing (rebound hammer test)
  • Testing of timber for compression and bending
