Inven~ovations is introduced to bridge the two decades of engineering undergraduates and middle-level field engineers. This is organized by IESL Student Chapter of University of Peradeniya in Collaboration with Electrical and Electronic Engineering Society. Resource person for this webinar was Eng. Bhagya Wikramasinghe, Electrical Engineer at CEB - Transmission Operation & Maintenance Central Unit. Session was held on 21 st of May 2021.

This webinar is conducted by Dr. Dilshan Godaliyadda, who recently joined Samsung Research America (SRA) as a Staff Research Engineer at the Mobile Processor Innovation Laboratory, where his work focuses on Imaging research. Webinar comprised of two parts. In the first part, participants were introduced to the Imaging Research. In the next part, Dr. Dilshan share his experience on graduate studies in the US. This session was held on 18 th May 2021.

This session was conducted by Dr. Shirantha Welikala, who obtained his Ph.D in Systems Engineering from Boston University, USA recently. During the session, undergraduates were able to get through knowledge on Complex Autonomous Systems and how to find solution for the optimal coverage problem and optimal persistent monitoring problem associated to CAS.

On 26 th of March 2021, an online session on Entrepreneurship was conducted by Mr. Dasun Ratnayake. During the webinar,who is an entrepreneur, qualities of an entrepreneur, challenges for the entrepreneur and how to overcome them were successfully conveyed to the participants.

As the first event of 2021, a Webinar on Exploratory Data Analysis was organized on 25 th of February 2021. This was conducted by the Dr. Nilay Karade, who has over 12 years of experience in the field of machine learning and software engineering. During the session, hands-on experienced was provided to the students on how to pre-process data and carry out an EDA on a given data set.

This session was conducted by Prof. Janaka Ekanayake who is one of the top 2% researchers in the world. Online session was held on 1 st of December 2020 and participants were able to grasp knowledge on research process, publishing the research and impact of research.

Next session on Importance of post graduate studies was held on 25 th November 2020 to provide undergraduate with good idea to why someone should consider post-graduate studies and structure of post graduate program of University of Peradeniya. Dr. Prabath Binduhewa, senior lecturer of senior lecturer of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department joined as the resource person and able to answer questions and doubts related to above topic.

First session of talk series was held on 5 th November 2020 on the topic of ‘CV writing’.Dr. W.A.N.I. Harischandra, senior lecturer of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department joined as resource person to elaborate on points such as differences between CV,portfolio and resume, How to create an outstanding CV and Common mistakes in CV writing.

Annual general meeting of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Society (EEES) was held on 29 th of July 2020, as a online event using Zoom due to the prevailing Covid 19 Pandemic situation of the country. The meeting was declared and welcomed by the President, Mr.Manuja Harasgama at 5.00 PM with the participation of the members.The Secretary of EEES, Mr.Ishan Rangajith presented the minutes of the previous Annual General Meeting.Then the junior treasurer of EEES, Mr. Thimila Bandara Ranaweera presented the financial report of the year 2018/19. After that former office bearers resigned from their posts, and then the new panels of office bearers were appointed. Dr. Roshan Godaliyadda was re-appointed as the senior treasurer of EEES.
