Aim(s)

To introduce the concept of circular economy and discuss the necessary involvement of Engineering Managers for the effectiveness of the concept in its application in engineering processes

Intended Learning Outcomes
  1. describe the differences between a circular economy and a linear economy.
  2. Create a vision, mission, objectives, goals and a strategy for an organization.
  3. explain the basic concepts of a circular economy.
  4. create circular economic business models for different processes.
  5. review material recovery indicators for a circular economy.
Course Content
  1. Introduction to Circular Economy: : linear economy and waste of resources, green economies, regenerative economies, the Circular Economy
  2. Basic Principles of a Circular Economy: : the concepts of design out, in use and regeneration, zero waste, reduce, reuse, and recycle
  3. Models of Circular Economy: : circular supply chain, engineering inputs at different levels of a circular economy
  4. Indicators of material recovery: developing indicators for a circular process in engineering activities
  5. Challenge Project: : building a circular economic model for any engineering activity/process and presenting the model (Student Based Activity)
