Bio Medical Engineering Laboratory

The Biomedical Engineering (BME) lab is one of the emerging labs at DEEE and it focuses on areas related to Electrophysiological Signal acquisition and analysis, Medical image and signal processing, Design and development of bioinstruments, and related activities. The lab has recently acquired a BioRadio wireless physiologic signal acquisition hardware and Biocapture software system along with the complete CleveLabs Biomedical Engineering laboratory suite. The lab is also equipped with all the sophisticated equipment needed to design and develop bioinstruments. These equipment include the facilities to fabricate multilayered printed electronic circuits, National Instruments data acquisition cards along with LabVIEW and Matlab software suits in addition to the usual lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, etc. The lab is run by qualified lecturers and teaching assistants with hands on experience in the fields of Biomedical Engineering. The team includes senior lecturers with Ph.D.’s in Biomedical Engineering, seasoned researchers who have a proven track record in carrying out high quality research in the areas of Biomedical Engineering, and Medical doctors from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya. Many research projects carried out in this lab has already gained national recognition at various fora.
