The Survey Field Camp 2026 for the E21 Batch undergraduate students of the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Peradeniya, was successfully conducted in the scenic surroundings of Passara, including Wewassa and Ury Tea Estate lands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over ten intensive days of fieldwork, students had the opportunity to strengthen their theoretical knowledge through hands-on experience in a range of traditional and modern surveying techniques. The programme included Chain Surveying, Triangulation, Tacheometric Surveying, Levelling, Digital Data Collection using Total Stations, and GNSS demonstrations<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Working in a real field environment enabled the students to develop not only their technical surveying skills, but also essential professional competencies such as teamwork, problem-solving, planning, responsibility, data management, and decision-making under practical field conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Survey Camp also provided an important opportunity for students to experience the progression from fundamental surveying principles to the application of modern surveying and geospatial technologies used in contemporary engineering practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The successful completion of Survey Camp 2026 was made possible through the dedicated guidance and support of the academic staff of the Department of Civil Engineering, together with the tremendous contribution of the Survey Laboratory staff and instructors throughout the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
