  1. Describe the origin, occurrence and mitigation of natural and man-made hazards.<\/li>\n
  2. Explain elements of disaster management, the disaster management cycle and the importance of sustainable development.<\/li>\n
  3. Describe methods of hazard, vulnerability and risk assessment.<\/li>\n
  4. Develop an emergency management plan.<\/li>\n

  3. Geological hazards :<\/a> Landslides, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions – origin, occurrence, and mitigation<\/li>\n
  4. Coastal hazards:<\/a> Tsunamis, storm surges, erosion & sedimentation – origin, occurrence, and mitigation<\/li>\n
  5. Hydrological and meteorological hazards : <\/a>Floods, droughts, cyclones, tornadoes, tropical storms, lightning – origin, occurrence and mitigation<\/li>\n
  6. Anthropogenic hazards :<\/a> Nuclear hazards, oil and toxic material spills and other industrial hazards, pollution, climate change\/global warming, terror, over-population<\/li>\n
