The Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, will host the ICPC Sri Lanka Regional 2025/26, the official Sri Lankan regional contest of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), on Sunday, 25 January 2026.
The ICPC is the world’s most prestigious university-level programming competition, often referred to as the Olympics of Competitive Programming, promoting excellence in algorithmic problem solving, teamwork, and software engineering among undergraduate students worldwide.
This landmark event marks the first time Sri Lanka hosts an official ICPC regional contest, positioning the University of Peradeniya and the country within the global ICPC ecosystem. The contest will bring together top undergraduate teams from universities across Sri Lanka and the Asian region, following a highly competitive national online preliminary round.
The on-site contest will be held at the Computing Center, Faculty of Engineering, with approximately 250 participants, including students, academics, industry representatives, and invited guests. The Awards and Closing Ceremony will take place from 4.00 PM onwards at the JRDC Auditorium.
Top-performing teams will earn the opportunity to advance to the ICPC World Finals (UAE) and the ICPC Asia West Continental Finals (India), providing significant international exposure and career opportunities for participants.
The event is organized in collaboration with the IEEE Sri Lanka Section, Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka – Young Members Section (IESL YMS), academic departments, student societies, and the Information Technology Center of the University of Peradeniya, strengthening industry–academia collaboration and national digital capacity building.
