Biography :

  • K D R Jagath-Kumara graduated with a BSc degree specializing in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka in 1985. He received the MEngSc degree majoring in Communications Engineering from the University of New South Wales in Australia in 1992 and the PhD degree from the University of South Australia in 1997. He was employed as an electrical engineer from 1986 to 1987 in Ceylon Electricity Board and as an electronic engineer at the Airports and Aviation Services Ltd. in Sri Lanka from 1987 to 1989. He held a research fellow position at the Australian Centre for Test and Evaluation of the University of South Australia from 1996 to 1997 and a visiting fellow position at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Technology in Sydney from 1997 to 1998. He was a lecturer at the Institute of Information Sciences and Technology, College of Sciences, Massey University in New Zealand from 2000 to 2006.

    Since 2006, K D R Jagath-Kumara has been a senior lecturer in the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. His research interests include burst-error modelling and frame error-content probability, decoder metric processing and hybrid-ARQ schemes and RF & Sound Energy.

  • Channels: Multipath fading channels,Ionospheric channels , Burst-error modelling ,Frame error content probability .
  • Digital Radio Links: Passive bit error probability estimation, Passive frame error estimation , ARQ frame sizes, Adaptive link protocols, Hybrid-ARQ protocols , Codeword combining , Modeling and analysis of BCH hybrid-ARQ.
  • Statistical Signal Processing
  • RF & Sound Energy: Wave propagation in soil, Charged particles.
