Aim(s)
To provide theoretical and technical knowledge, skills and techniques required for management of projects throughout the project life cycle.
Intended Learning Outcomes
  1. Describe the project life cycle, project phases and project management processes.
  2. Analyse schedules using project planning techniques.
  3. Interpret and apply contractual procedures, rights and obligations of the parties to the contract.
  4. Explain the importance of managing change, risks & communication for project success.
  5. Create a project schedule using project management software for monitoring of projects.
Course Content
  1. Project Management Concepts:  project definition; project life cycle; project environment; project management knowledge areas; project management processes.
  2. Initiation Phase:  Identify stakeholders; project identification & selection; project charter.
  3. Planning Phase:  Scope; work breakdown structure; activities; durations; resources & cost; schedule development; use of project planning softwares.
  4. Execution, Monitoring and Controlling Phase:  Contract administration; project communications; managing time; cost; quality and risks.
  5. Closing Phase:   Close-out records; final payment; post project evaluation; lessons learned.
