To provide the students with the background information in managing technology for sustainable development.

  1. Explain the impact of technology on economy, society and environment.
  2. Describe the role of transferred technology on existing technology.
  3. Explain the process of technology innovation and evolution.
  4. Reflect goals of green and appropriate technology in mega projects and at work places.
  5. Apply technology management concepts in developing Sri Lankan Technology.
Course Content
  1. Role/ Impact of Technology:  Positive and negative impacts of technology on society; economy and environment; sustainable development.
  2. Technology Acquisition and Transfer:  Technology as a source of competitive advantage; insourcing and outsourcing; managing core competencies; role of transferred technology.
  3. Technology and Innovation:  Invention and innovation; innovation systems; selection of projects; managing technological assets.
  4. Evolution of Technology:  Effective utilization of resources; project externalities; waste and environmental pollution exploitation.
  5. Green/ Appropriate Technology:  Green economics; goals of green and appropriate technology.
  6. Project:  Improvement of Sri Lankan technology for sustainable development.
