Dr. Ruwan D. Ranaweera earned his B.Sc. in Electrical & Electronic Engineering in January 2001 from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He joined the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, University of Peradeniya, as a probationary lecturer in June the same year. In August 2003 he received the Fulbright scholarship to study in the School of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University, Indiana, U.S.A. where he earned his M.S.B.m.E in May 2005. Ruwan worked as a teaching assistant in the school of Biomedical Engineering and won the Estus H. and Vashti L. Magoon award for Excellence in Teaching awarded by the College of Engineering, as well as the Graduate Student Award for Outstanding Teaching by the Purdue University Teaching Academy in 2009. For his Ph.D., he worked on functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) related issues in functional brain mapping of the human auditory system. He earned his Ph.D. in December 2010 from the school of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Purdue University. He is currently a lecturer in the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, University of Peradeniya.
