Dr. Lilantha Samaranayake has been a Senior Lecturer in Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya since 2007. He has been a visiting researcher in the Graduate School of Life Science and Systems Engineering, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Kitakyushu, Japan.From 2009 to 2011 he was a Senior Scientist in National Nanotechnology Initiative under Ministry of Technology and Research.
He was the Section Chair of Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Sri Lanka Section for the year 2010. Further, he was a member of the Board of Governors of the Arthur C. Clerk Institute for Modern Technologies, Moratuwa, Sri Lanka from 2010 to 2013. In addition he has been a member of the National committee on Electronics and ICT and a member of the Research Panel on Engineering Science and Architecture of the National Science Foundation for the same period.
He has been a Research Fellow in Control of Electric Machines in the Centre for Automotive Engineeringin the School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing Engineering, in the Cranfield University, United Kingdom 2014/2015, where he worked for the development of FUTURE (Fundamental Understanding of Technology of Ultra Reduced Emission) vehicles funded by UK's EPSRC. His research includes applications of nanotechnology in polymer photovoltaics, electric powertrains and control, DC grids and control systems in general.
