The inauguration ceremony of the Postgraduate program in Electrical and Electronic Engineering was held on 19th January 2018 from 2.30 pm to 4.00 pm at the seminar room of the Dept. of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.Invitees for the event were Prof. LeelanandaRajapakse, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Prof. DisalaUduwawala, Director of Center of Engineering Research and Postgraduate Studies of Faculty of Engineering.This is the 18th intake of the regular MSc program. Further a Double Degree MSc in Wireless Communication Engineering program was commenced on this day for the first time in Sri Lanka. The Double Degree program is conducted in collaborated with University of Oulu, Finland.Thirty-three applicants were registered for the regular postgraduate program while ten students were registered for the Double Degree MSc program.
Prof. Manjula Fernando, Head of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering welcomed the invitees, academic staff members and students registering for the programs.The Dean Faculty of Engineering welcomed the participants to the Faculty and explained the necessity of postgraduate studies for the advancement of their career. Some important information related to the postgraduate programs at the Faculty of Engineering was shared with the participants by Prof. DisalaUduwawa, Director of Centre of Engineering Research and Postgraduate Studies. Dr. Binduhewa, Coordinator of the Postgraduate program delivered the vote of thanks to conclude the first session of the inauguration ceremony.
In the second session of the ceremony, Head of Department introduced the Department and its activities. Further teaching panel of the postgraduate program was introduced by the Head of the Department. Important messages related to the postgraduate program such as scheduling, course selection, research and course work options and completion were explained by Dr. Binduhewa.
