Dr. Samith Buddika's research is in the area of Earthquake-resistant design and analysis of structures, precast/prestressed structural systems, self-centering structures, seismic pounding of structures, and structural fire Engineering. He also serves as an editorial board member of International Journal of Structural Engineering and Analysis.
Dr. Samith Buddika earned his BSc.Eng degree with First Class Honors in Civil Engineering from the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka. Prior to pursuing his M.Eng and PhD from Tokyo Institute of Technology (TIT), Japan, he worked as a lecture in University of Peradeniya for two years. During his PhD studies at TIT, Dr. Samith Buddika have also worked at JFE Steel Corporation, Japan and Commonwealth Engineers Co.,Ltd, Japan. He was a short-term exchange student at Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, Turkey and a member of Earthquake reconnaissance survey team in Nepal in 2015. He has industry experience in seismic design of steel-concrete composite structures. He received his PhD in Structural Engineering and also completed the International Program in Earthquake Engineering in 2017.
